New Tilda fabrics!

A few days after Christmas I found that I might upload a photo of my new Tilda fabrics - thank you, Fibi!
I presume that some of them are even from the new spring-collection...

Now I just have to find out what to make from them!! Yeah, tough questions... :P

Ideas are welcome! :D

P.S.:
Btw, this is what I am spending my time with currently...
Looks as if it's a joy to write this paper? -.-

She's doing the Stamps!

Taking a break from exam-studying and diploma-paper-writing I am preparing some Christmas presents.
I believed this to be a good opportunity to try out my new stamp-set that I bought in London last weekend.

Do you want to know what I stamped?

A nice CD-cover. :-)

Rain and umbrellas remind me of this:

(Or rather: this song reminds me of what you can see above.)

London Calling

Yes, yes, I know that this title has been over-used but today I do not have that much time.

Just a quick note on what I bought during my weekend in London.

Some clothes but also some nice things for being creative (IF I just had the time - there are too many UFOs around at the moment as well as too many ideas!). xD

clockwise, starting on the left:
1) Moomins Cook Book (from Brick Ln Book Shop, bought at The Water Poet Christmas fair)
2) Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (from Liverpool St Station)
3) white vintage-dress (no real vintage but still nice, from Spitalfields Market Vintage Fair)
4) blue & white striped shirt with lace part in the neck (from Forever 21, Oxford St)
5) rainy stamp-set (from the V&A, Cromwell Rd)

And this is a nice Christmas-impression from London:

Abigail, the duck

I would like to introduce you to Abigail.

Abigail likes the afternoon-tea, biscuits and flower-bouquets.

First and foremost, she likes the English weather - which is no wonder as she's a duck.
However, this is also why I bring her to England today - to my friend Vivien who will spend some time with her in London, watching the raindrops and the pretty British park-lakes.

edit: She's home! (With a real old-fashioned English garden in the background.) :-)

Long time no see...

So, what happened in the meantime? I've been abroad doing a placement on the island of Fuerteventura and not doing any tinkering (which I really missed during the time).

However, plans for knits were made in the hot Fuerteventura sun - e.g., I am currently knitting a wrapped sleeves-scarf (see the original right here). You can now also follow the process of any knits at ravelry (if you like you can follow me here).

However, here's what I did this weekend. I visited the designPavillon which is a Christmas Market for Design (which you can see here) in Hanover.
There they sold so wonderfully cute things and it was so difficult to decide for only a few things!!
xD

Here's what I bought:

(as you may notice I possess an affinity for animals and red stuff)

Bambi-necklace: Glückspilz Schmuck
Little Red Riding Hood button: Käselotti
heart-letter stamp: Frau Börd

heart ring: from Gina Tricot (not from the design-market)
red nail polish, colour: "Going to the Opera": from H&M (not from the design-market, either)
(I just thought they fit so nicely to what I bought...)

I can also recommend Anique (see here) as I nearly bought one of her necklaces, as well, and it was only due to my fault of money that I did not.
Last year my sister bought an Alice in Wonderland-necklace from her.

So, next time you will again see more of what I did.

Until then, stay warm and take care! :-)

And thanks for reading.

For a Friend

Wishing her well.

Whitening Action! :D

It just comes to my mind that a before/after comparison would have been nice at this place, however this photo will also do without it:

The stool used to be my Grandma's. It took a bit of discussion with my dad before I was allowed to paint it white.

I also renovated a cabinet for my sister's new flat, however the photos will come some time later since she simply took it with her just after the paint had been dry for about a few hours!! Well... -.-

A new Notebook

Soon I will start my placement in a hotel. As notebooks are always quite useful (but most of them look boring) I decided to design my own.

I painted the cover lime green.

The background picture is from a magazine (German Glamour?!).

...and for the pages I again used my lovely birdy stamps. :D

Marbles Bag

How time passes! The son of a friend started school this week and therefore we had a big party in the park with lots of games, good food and presents.

The present I made him was this marbles bag (including some cool marbles, that is).

Seeing as he has a preference for green and likes cats, I hope that he likes this bag, as well. :-)
(I especially like the cool pin which says "school-kid". Not my creation, though.)

Short White Pullover

You may ask, why I sew a pullover this time of the year, however,
1. there has never been sth that resembles a person's associations about the word summer,
2. it's a summer pullover (because it's short and light).
:D
AND it's a summer pullover because I will take it with me to Fuerteventura where I will spend Autumn this year due to a hotel PR placement. (I'm not allowed to use the swimming-pools, so don't go "ahhh"). ;-)

However, in case you want to knit a pullover like mine, this is the basic pattern (I've used one I found in a German knitting-mag called "Rebecca"):
simply use a rib pattern (one left, one right, one left, one right, you get it) for one row, then do one row right knit stitches only. After that you repeat it until you have the length you need.

Thanks go to my mum who (again) helped me a lot and whose ideas were the crochet as well as the ribbon. :-)

Proudly presenting: the Flower Top, my very first garment ever!

I have to admit I'm feeling a little tiny bit proud.

This is the first garment I've ever sewn (apart from slippers and bags, that is).
The front:

And: there's no tracing pattern to it since I've copied a cut from an H&M-top using Burda copy-foil
--> (Kopierfolie!! What a mad process - but it did work!!) :D

The back:
Don't get too close - you can see that it's been my first try... -.-

And a very blurry, red-ish photo made by night from how it looks when you wear it.
(Namely, NOT like the original shirt because the orginal is made from jersey and I used plain cotton...)

See the school-bag in the background? Yep, I've been terribly busy studying... ;P

Hello again...with Tilda's Folding Sewing Case

I'm so sorry that I've left you for such a long time. There were lots of exams to be taken and an internship to plan... -.-

However, here's what I've sewed in the past few weeks, not to mention: months, ha!!

Last year I've been living in a flat share with lots of fashion design students (cause the fashion school was just next to the building).

I'm still friends with one of the girls and knowing that she uses needles all day long, I made her this birthday present:

It's the same pattern Erna the Horse and Agathe the Duck are from.
(...ha, this sounds quite funny!)

Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose

...no matter whether it's on a shoe...

...or on a ring:

As easy as this to make:

=

P.S.: Nooo, I didn't destroy the shoes just for making a ring!! A longer time ago, one shoe lost a rose and as we didn't find it again, my mum and I decided to take the other rose off, as well. I kept the rose - and tadaa! :D

New fabrics!

As a belated birthday-present I received a big parcel from my friend Vivien today.
It contained lots of colorful and very very beautiful fabrics.

The sewing-machine will be clattering again! :D

Erna loves (to eat) Strawberries

This is Erna. Erna is curious.

Erna likes strawberries. She's terribly hungry, you know...

Yummie! :P

Erna was a birthday present for my horse-infatuated friend Geesche.

Agathe, the Easter Duck!

Duck your head away - here comes Agathe!
Agathe has the most delicate plumage you've ever seen. Dressed in blue, scattered with flowers, and wearing a necklase in rosé.

Hidden behind this bush she was the Easter present for my parents. I guess, my mum liked it more than my dad did, hehe. ;-)

Walter, the Little Puffin, enjoys the Sea

A few weeks ago my boyfriend said that if his parents give me the new Tilda book (Tildas Sommerwelt) for my birthday he would LOVE to have the little Tilda puffin.

No sooner said than done. And when his birthday arrived this little puffin was created. :D

I must say, even though he is male, he was very happy about him.

Scillablütenfest - Scilla Blossom Festival

Here in Hanover there are a few days in April when the Scilla blossoms are in bloom.

It's been the first time I've heard of it and luckily my father showed this beautiful place to my sister and me the other day.

Otherwise we would have missed this so-called "blue wonder".

Yet another beautiful place in Hanover.

People on this hill in Hanover put up blue balloons in order to celebrate this season.
Hehe, sounds a bit like a Japanese cherry-blossom festival, if I write like this. ;-)

Yes, this again is not selfmade but I can promise you that soon there's going to be a new entry on a textile-pal I'm currently working on. ;-)

Chocolates in a Box

Even though I have not made these myself I just did not want to deprive you of them:

My friend Yuka (who, fortunately, is fine) sent me these beautiful chocolates. I think the Japanese are always so creative...
As we both have our birthdays in March, I sent her some hair ornaments, and she sent me a necklace and chocolate. Isn't she sweet? :)

Birds & Nests

From now on my letters will always include twittering birds, antique birdcages and nests in trees.

When redeeming a voucher I got at school on birthday, I bought this stamp set in a nice shop in Hanover.

Isn't it lovely?
